Connecting Shopify Customers to Quizify
The Shopify Customers integration lets Quizify automatically create or update customer accounts in your Shopify store whenever someone completes your quiz and submits their details. It also syncs their marketing email subscription preference and applies a Quizify tag to their profile — so you can identify and segment quiz-generated customers directly inside Shopify.
Before You Start
Make sure the following are in place before enabling this integration:
The user information form is enabled on your quiz
The email field is added to the user information form — this is required for a Shopify customer account to be created
Optionally, the marketing consent checkbox is enabled if you want to sync subscription preferences to Shopify
If the email field is not included in your user information form, quiz submissions will not create or update any customer records in Shopify, even if the integration is connected.
How to Enable the Integration
Open Quizify from your Shopify admin
Go to Integrations in the main navigation
Find Shopify Customers in the integrations list
Click Connect
That is all. Once connected, the integration is active for all quizzes immediately. No API keys or external account setup is required — Quizify connects directly to your Shopify store.
What Happens After a Quiz Submission
When a customer completes your quiz and submits the user information form with their email address, Quizify does the following automatically:
Creates or Updates a Shopify Customer Account
Quizify checks whether a Shopify customer account already exists for the submitted email address.
If no account exists — a new customer account is created in Shopify using the name and email the customer provided
If an account already exists — the existing customer record is updated with any new information from the quiz submission
You do not need to manually import quiz leads into Shopify. Every qualifying submission is handled in real time.
Syncs Marketing Email Subscription
If you have the marketing consent checkbox enabled on your user information form, Quizify reads whether the customer ticked it:
Checkbox ticked — the customer's Shopify account is set to subscribed for email marketing
Checkbox not ticked — the customer's marketing subscription status is left as unsubscribed
This means your Shopify email marketing list reflects the customer's actual consent at the time they completed the quiz, keeping you aligned with email marketing best practices.
If you sell to customers in the EU, UK, or Canada, enabling the marketing consent checkbox and syncing it to Shopify is an important step toward GDPR and CASL compliance.
Adds the Quizify Tag to the Customer Profile
Every customer account created or updated through this integration is automatically tagged with Quizify in Shopify. This tag is added alongside any existing tags on the customer's profile and is never removed by Quizify.
Using the Quizify Tag in Shopify
The Quizify tag makes it easy to find and work with customers who came through your quiz. Here is what you can do with it inside Shopify:
Filter your customer list — go to Customers in Shopify admin and search or filter by the tag "Quizify" to see all quiz-generated customers in one view
Create a customer segment — use the Quizify tag as a condition in Shopify's customer segmentation tools to build a dedicated segment
Send a targeted email campaign — use the Quizify segment in Shopify Email or any connected email platform to send a campaign specifically to customers who came through your quiz
Apply further tags or discounts — use Shopify automations or third-party apps to trigger additional actions whenever a customer with the Quizify tag is created
Combining the Quizify tag with Shopify's customer segments is a straightforward way to measure how many customers your quiz has generated and to run re-engagement campaigns targeted specifically at quiz takers.
