Adding Questions to Your Quiz

Questions are the core of your quiz. Each question you add gives customers a chance to share their preferences, so Quizify can match them to the right products. This guide walks you through how to add questions, set them up, and organise them into a smooth quiz flow.

How to Access the Question Editor

Questions are added from inside the quiz editor.

  1. Open the Quizify app from your Shopify admin.

  2. Click Manage Quiz and select the quiz you want to edit.

  3. You are now in the quiz editor. Click the Add Question button to add your first question (or a new question to an existing list).

Adding a Question — Step by Step

  1. Click Add Question. A new question card appears in your quiz.

  2. Select the question type from the type selector (for example, Single Selection or Multiple Selection). See Question Types for a full description of all available types.

  3. Click into the question text field and type your question (for example, "What is your skin type?" or "What is your budget?").

  4. Add your answer options — click Add Answer within the question card to add each option, and type the answer text.

  5. Click Save to save your changes.

After adding all your questions, always click Preview to walk through the quiz as a customer would. This helps you catch any flow issues before you publish.

Adding a Question Description

Each question can have an optional description — a short block of text that appears below the question text. This is useful when your question needs a little extra context or instruction.

  1. Open the question in the question editor.

  2. Find the Description field below the question text field.

  3. Type the supporting text you want to show customers.

Descriptions are optional and can be left blank if the question is self-explanatory.

Adding an Image to a Question

You can add an image to a question to make it more visual and engaging. The image appears above or alongside the question text, depending on your quiz layout settings.

  1. On the question card in the quiz editor, click the image icon.

  2. Upload an image from your device. Supported formats are JPG, PNG, GIF, and WebP.

  3. Once uploaded, the image appears on the question card.

Question images are different from answer images. Question images provide visual context for the question itself; answer images are attached to individual answer options. See Adding Images to Answer Options for more on answer images.

Reordering Questions

You can change the order of questions at any time by dragging them into a new position.

  1. In the quiz editor, hover over the question card you want to move.

  2. Click and hold the drag handle on the left side of the question card.

  3. Drag the question up or down to its new position.

  4. Release to drop it in place.

  5. Click Save to save the new order.

You can also insert a new question between two existing ones. After adding a new question, drag it to the position you want using the drag handle — you do not need to add questions in order.

How Many Questions Should You Add?

There is no hard limit on the number of questions you can add to a quiz, but the length of your quiz has a real impact on how many customers complete it.

For most stores, 5 to 8 questions is the sweet spot. That is enough questions to gather meaningful preference data and deliver a personalised recommendation, without asking so much that customers lose interest and drop off before finishing.

If you have a complex product range, you can go slightly higher — but consider using logic jumps to show customers only the questions that are relevant to them. This keeps the quiz feeling focused even when the total question count is higher. See Setting Up Logic Jumps for more detail.

Review your quiz completion rate in Analytics after publishing. If you notice a significant drop-off at a particular question, that is a signal the quiz may be too long or that a specific question is causing friction.
