Adding Images to Answer
Adding images to your answer options makes your quiz more visual and engaging. Instead of reading plain text, customers can respond to images, which is especially effective for product-style quizzes where showing is more powerful than telling.
How to Upload an Image to an Answer Option
Images are added to individual answer options within the question editor.
Open your quiz in the quiz editor.
Click on the question that contains the answer you want to add an image to.
Find the answer option you want to update.
Click the image icon on the answer card.
Select an image from your device to upload.
Once uploaded, the image appears on the answer card.
Save your changes.
Repeat this process for each answer option you want to add an image to. You do not have to add images to every answer — you can mix image and text-only answers on the same question, though a consistent visual treatment usually looks more polished.
Supported Image Formats
Quizify supports the following image formats for answer options:
JPG / JPEG
PNG
GIF
WebP
Recommended Image Dimensions
Square images work best for answer options (for example, 400×400px). Answer images are scaled to fit the answer card, so using non-square images may result in cropping or letterboxing depending on the quiz layout.
Using consistent dimensions across all answer images on the same question creates a cleaner, more professional layout. If your images are different sizes or aspect ratios, the answer cards may look uneven.
Prepare your answer images before uploading — resize and crop them to the same square dimensions in an image editor for the best results. Even a quick crop in a free tool like Canva or your phone's photo editor can make a big difference to how the answers look.
What Is a Hover Image?
A hover image is an alternate image that replaces the default answer image when a customer moves their cursor over an answer option. This is useful for creating a visual "selected" or "highlighted" state — for example, showing a brighter version of an image, a colour swatch in a different state, or a "tick" overlay.
Hover images are optional. If you do not set one, the default image simply stays in place when customers hover over an answer.
How to Set a Hover Image
Open the answer option in the question editor.
In the answer settings, find the Hover Image field.
Upload the image you want to display on hover.
Save your changes.
The hover image is only shown when a customer's cursor is over the answer. On mobile devices (where there is no cursor), the hover image is not triggered — the default image is shown at all times.
Icon Colour Customisation
For answers that use icons rather than full uploaded images, Quizify allows you to customise the icon colour per answer.
Default icon colour — the colour of the icon in its normal (unselected) state.
Hover icon colour — the colour of the icon when a customer hovers over or selects the answer.
To set these:
Open the answer option in the question editor.
Find the Icon Colour and Hover Icon Colour fields in the answer settings.
Use the colour picker to select the colours you want.
Save your changes.
Icon colour customisation is separate from uploaded images — it applies to vector icon sets, not to image uploads.
Layout Recommendation
Image-based answers display best when the question layout is set to grid rather than list. A grid layout arranges the answer cards side by side, giving the images more visual space and making it easier for customers to compare options.
To change the question layout, go to the question's design settings and select the Grid layout option.
