Understanding Quiz Scoring

Quiz scoring lets you assign numeric point values to quiz answers and use the customer's accumulated total to determine their product recommendation. Rather than linking individual answers directly to products, scoring evaluates the customer's entire profile and maps the result to a score range.

How Scoring Works

Quizify's scoring system has three components that work together:

1. Answer Point Values

Each answer option in your quiz carries a numeric point value that you set. For example:

  • "Rarely" = 1 point

  • "Sometimes" = 2 points

  • "Often" = 3 points

  • "Always" = 5 points

When a customer selects an answer, its point value is added to their running total.

2. Total Score

As the customer progresses through the quiz and selects answers, the point values accumulate into a total score. The total is a simple sum — all selected answer values added together.

3. Score Ranges and Recommendations

You define score ranges that cover all the possible totals a customer could achieve — for example, 0–15, 16–30, 31–50. Each range is linked to a product recommendation. When the customer finishes the quiz, Quizify identifies which range their total falls into and shows those products on the result page.

When to Use Scoring

Score-based recommendations are best when:

  • You want the recommendation to reflect the customer's overall profile, not any single answer

  • Your products suit a spectrum — mild to strong, beginner to advanced, low to high

  • You need finer graduation between outcomes than basic answer-to-product links provide

Common examples include skincare quizzes with mild, moderate, and intensive formulations, supplement quizzes based on deficiency level, and fitness quizzes that match training products to experience level.

Setup Steps Overview

Setting up scoring involves four steps:

  1. Enable score mode — Switch your quiz to score-based recommendations in the quiz settings

  2. Assign point values — Enter a numeric value for each answer option across all questions

  3. Define score ranges — Create the ranges that cover all possible totals

  4. Map ranges to products — Link each range to the products that match that outcome

You must set your quiz to score-based mode before the scoring fields become visible on your answers. If you do not see score fields in the answer editor, check that score mode is enabled in your quiz settings.
