Hiding Unavailable Products

You can configure Quizify to automatically hide products that are out of stock or unavailable from the quiz result page. This ensures customers only see products they can actually purchase — avoiding frustration from recommending something they cannot add to cart.


Where to Find the Setting

  1. From the Quizify dashboard, click the edit quiz icon next to your quiz to open the quiz editor

  2. Click Recommendation in the left menu

  3. Find the Hide unavailable products and variants toggle

  4. Enable it

  5. Save your settings

Once enabled, Quizify will check availability when generating each customer's result page and automatically exclude products or variants that are not available.


How Quizify Checks Availability

When a customer reaches the result page, Quizify makes a real-time query to your Shopify store to check the current availability of each recommended product or variant. This means the check reflects live inventory — not a cached or periodic snapshot.

Products or variants that do not pass the availability check are excluded from the result before the page renders, so customers never see them.


What "Unavailable" Means

Quizify considers a product or variant unavailable when:

  • Out of stock — Inventory is at zero and the product is not set to "continue selling when out of stock" in Shopify

  • Archived — The product has been archived in Shopify and is no longer active

  • Draft status — The product is in draft and not published to your sales channel

Products that are published and have stock — or are set to continue selling when out of stock — are treated as available.


Variant-Level vs. Product-Level Hiding

If you linked an answer to a specific variant, Quizify checks the availability of that variant. If the variant is out of stock, that specific variant is hidden — but the overall product may still appear if other variants are available.

If you linked an answer to the whole product (not a specific variant), Quizify evaluates overall product availability. If the product has at least one available variant, it will typically still appear on the result page.


What Happens When All Recommended Products Are Unavailable

If every product recommended for a customer's outcome is out of stock or unavailable, the result page will show no product recommendations. The result page will still appear, but the product section will be empty.

To prevent this situation:

  • Ensure your quiz recommends a reasonable number of products so there is usually at least one available alternative

  • Use tag-based or collection-based product links — as you add new products to those tags or collections, they automatically become available as recommendations

  • Monitor your inventory and quiz results regularly, especially for quizzes linked to a small number of specific products
