Creating Result Types
Result types are the named categories your type-based quiz can produce. You create them before linking any answers — they are the foundation that the rest of your type quiz is built on. This guide explains how to create, name, edit, and delete result types in Quizify.
Before You Start: Enable Type-Based Mode
Result types are only available when your quiz is set to type-based recommendation mode. If you do not see a result types section in your quiz:
From the Quizify dashboard, click the edit quiz icon next to your quiz to open the quiz editor
Click Recommendation in the left menu
Find the recommendation type setting
Select Type-Based as the recommendation type
Save
Once type mode is enabled, the result types section will be accessible.
Where to Access the Result Types Editor
From the Quizify dashboard, click the edit quiz icon next to your quiz to open the quiz editor
Click Result in the left menu
Look for the Result Category panel or tab
Here you will see the list of result types you have created, along with options to add new ones.
Creating a Result Type
Go to Recommendation tab and check for Add result types section
Add Type in Result categories setting input
Enter a name for the type — this is the label that identifies this outcome in the quiz
Save the type
Repeat this for every outcome your quiz should be able to produce. Most quizzes have between three and six result types.
Important: Creating result types is only the first step. After adding your types, you must go through your quiz answers and assign votes to the appropriate result types. If answer votes are not configured, the quiz cannot calculate which result type a customer should receive.
How Many Types Can You Create
You can create as many result types as your quiz needs. There is no fixed upper limit. However, keep in mind that:
Each result type needs its own set of answer votes configured across your questions
More types require more careful answer-to-vote mapping to ensure customers can realistically end up with each type
Too many types can make the quiz harder to design and test thoroughly
For most quizzes, three to six well-defined types produce clear, reliable outcomes.
Naming Best Practices
Result type names are used internally in the editor and may also be displayed to customers on the result page depending on your settings. Choose names that are:
Clear and descriptive — "Oily Skin" is better than "Type A"
Customer-facing appropriate — If the name shows on the result page, it should make sense to customers
Consistent in style — Use the same format and capitalisation across all types (e.g., all title case)
Short enough to display cleanly — Keep names concise if they will appear on the result page
Editing or Deleting Result Types
To rename a result type, open it in the result types editor, update the name field, and save.
To delete a result type:
Open the Recommendation tab in the quiz editor
Click the delete or remove option
Confirm the deletion
Deleting a result type will remove it from the list and break any answer votes that were pointing to it. Those answers will no longer contribute votes to any type. After deleting a type, review all answer vote settings across your quiz and update any that referenced the deleted type.
