Quiz Not Showing on Shopify Store

If your Quizify quiz is not appearing on your Shopify store, work through this checklist in order. The most common causes are covered here, starting with the most frequent.

Diagnosis Checklist

1. Is the Quizify App Embed Enabled in the Shopify Theme Editor?

This is the most common reason a quiz does not appear on the storefront. Quizify requires the app embed to be activated in your Shopify theme before any quiz can display.

To check and enable it:

In Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes
Click Customise on your active theme
In the Theme Editor, click App embeds (the puzzle piece icon in the left panel)
Find Quizify in the list and toggle it on
Click Save

If this was not enabled, the quiz was invisible to visitors regardless of any other settings. Enable it and test the store.

2. Has the Quiz Been Added to the Page?

All quizzes in Quizify are active by default — but they do not appear on your store until you add them to a specific page. Use one of these two methods:

Option A: App Block (recommended, no code needed)

In Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes → Customise
Navigate to the page where you want the quiz to appear
Click Add section or, within a section, click Add block
Find and select the Quizify app block
In the block settings, enter your Quiz ID (found on the Publish tab of your quiz editor)
Click Save

Option B: Embed Code

In Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Pages
Open the page where you expect the quiz to show
Check that the Quizify embed code is present in the page content
If it is missing, copy the embed code from the Quizify Publish tab and paste it into the page content

3. Is the Embed Code in the Correct Location? (Embed Code Method)

If you added the quiz using the embed code, the embed code must be pasted as a standalone element — not inside an existing paragraph, heading, or HTML tag.

In the Shopify page editor:

Switch to the HTML view and check where the embed code sits in the source
It should not be wrapped inside <p>, <strong>, or any other tag
If it is, cut and paste it as a clean, separate block

4. Is the Theme Compatible with App Embeds?

Most modern Shopify themes support app embeds. Older or heavily customised themes may not.

Test the quiz on the default Shopify Dawn theme (if available) to see if it loads
If it loads on Dawn but not your custom theme, the theme may have a compatibility issue

Contact your theme developer or Quizify support with details if you suspect a theme conflict.

5. Has the Browser Cache Been Cleared?

A cached version of the page may not show the quiz even after you have made changes.

On Windows: press Ctrl + Shift + R to do a hard refresh
On Mac: press Cmd + Shift + R
Alternatively, open the page in an incognito or private browsing window

Frequently asked questions

I can see the quiz on desktop but not on mobile.

This may be a theme-level CSS issue hiding the quiz container on mobile viewports. Check your theme's responsive CSS or test in a different browser. It could also be a specific mobile caching issue — try clearing the mobile browser cache.

I enabled the app embed but the quiz still doesn't appear.

After enabling the app embed, confirm the quiz has been added to the page — either via the App Block in the Theme Editor or by pasting the embed code on the correct page. Try clearing your browser cache and viewing the page in incognito mode. Make sure you have entered the correct Quiz ID in your app embed setting.

I installed Quizify but don't know how to add the quiz to a page.

There are two ways to add a quiz to your store. The easiest is the App Block: in the Shopify Theme Editor, add the Quizify app block to a section on the page, enter your quiz ID (found on the Publish tab in your quiz editor), and save — no code required.

Alternatively, for the embed code method, open the quiz editor in Quizify, go to the Publish tab, copy the embed code, and paste it into the content of the Shopify page where you want the quiz to appear.

I pasted the embed code but nothing shows on the page.

Confirm the Quizify app embed is enabled in your Shopify Theme Editor — this is required before any embed code will render. Also check that the shortcode is pasted as a clean, standalone element in the page content and not wrapped in another HTML tag.

My quiz was showing before, and now it's not — what happened?

Common causes of a quiz disappearing after it was working: the app embed was accidentally disabled during a theme update or theme switch, or the page containing the embed code was edited, and the shortcode was removed. Check all three in that order.

The embed code shows on the page as text instead of a quiz.

When you add the embed code to your page content, make sure to go to HTML code editor mode instead of text preview. You can use the <> icon to switch. Paste the embed code and then save. It will show a quiz instead of text.

The quiz appears on one page but not another.

The embed shortcode must be added to each page individually. If the quiz shows on one page but not another, the shortcode has likely not been pasted on the second page. If you have added a quiz through the app block, then it will show on all pages that use the same page template.

The quiz was working but disappeared after I switched themes.

When you switch to a new theme in Shopify, app embed settings from your previous theme do not carry over. Open the Theme Editor for your new active theme and re-enable the Quizify app embed.
