How Tag-Based Recommendations Work
When you enter a tag in an answer link, Quizify does not store a list of products — it queries Shopify in real time when the quiz result is generated. Any product in your store that carries the specified tag at the time a customer completes the quiz will appear in the result. This means your recommendations stay current automatically. If you add a new product to Shopify and tag it correctly, it will start appearing in quiz results without any changes to the quiz itself. How to Link an Answer to a Product Tag
- Open your quiz in the Quizify editor
- Navigate to the Recommendations tab
- Find the answer you want to configure — a tag input field is shown directly next to each answer
- Enter the exact product tag as it appears in Shopify
- Save
The tag must match exactly — including capitalisation and spacing — for Quizify to find the correct products. Double-check the tag in your Shopify admin under Products before entering it in Quizify.
Linking Multiple Tags to One Answer
You can add more than one tag to a single answer. When multiple tags are entered, Quizify applies AND logic — a product must carry all of the specified tags to appear on the result page for that answer. This is useful when you want to narrow down recommendations to products that belong to more than one category at once. For example, if an answer links to bothoily-skin and spf, only products tagged with both will appear — not products that carry just one of the tags.
If you want products from either tag to appear (OR logic), link each tag to a separate answer rather than combining them on one answer.
Case Sensitivity
Product tags in Shopify are case-sensitive in some contexts. To be safe, enter the tag exactly as it appears in Shopify. If your Shopify tag isnatural-skincare, entering Natural-Skincare or NATURAL-SKINCARE may not return the expected products.
What Happens If No Products Carry the Tag
If no products in your Shopify store carry the tag you entered, no products will appear on the result page for customers who select that answer. To prevent this:- Verify the tag exists in Shopify before entering it in Quizify
- Test the quiz in Preview after setting up tag-based links
- Check that the products you intend to surface are tagged correctly in Shopify
Use Cases for Tag-Based Recommendations
Tag-based links are particularly useful when:- You want to recommend an entire product range without listing individual items
- Your catalogue changes frequently and you want recommendations to update automatically
- Multiple products suit the same answer and you manage them as a tagged group in Shopify
- You use tags as a product organisation system and want your quiz to reflect that structure
oily-skin-range. Any product in your store tagged oily-skin-range — regardless of how many you have — will appear on the result page for that answer.
