Two key settings control the timing and repetition of your quiz popup: the delay (how long after the page loads before the popup appears) and the frequency (how often the same visitor sees it). Getting these right balances engagement with avoiding annoyance.

How to Access These Settings

  1. From Quizify, open the quiz configured as a popup
  2. Click Edit Quiz
  3. Go to the Publish tab
  4. Scroll to the Popup Quiz section

The delay setting controls whether the popup appears the moment the page loads or waits for a set amount of time first.

Options

  • Immediately — The popup appears as soon as the page finishes loading, with no wait.
  • After a delay — The popup waits for a number of seconds you specify before appearing.

How to Set the Delay

  1. In the Popup Quiz section, find the Delay setting
  2. Choose Immediately or enter the number of seconds to wait
  3. Save
A delay of 5 to 10 seconds works well for most stores. This gives visitors a moment to land on the page before the popup is introduced.

Avoid showing the popup immediately if possible. A visitor who has just arrived is more likely to dismiss it before engaging with your store.

Display Frequency

Frequency controls how often the same visitor sees the popup after they have already seen it once.

Options

  • Never show again — Once a visitor has seen the popup, it will not appear to them again.
  • Show again after a set time — The popup is suppressed for a period you specify (for example, 7 days), then it may appear again on their next visit after that period.

How to Set the Frequency

  1. In the Popup Quiz section, find the Frequency setting
  2. Choose Never or select a time period after which the popup should reappear
  3. Save

Quizify uses browser-based storage to track whether a visitor has already seen the popup. If a visitor clears their browser data or switches to a different device, the popup may appear to them again even if the frequency setting would otherwise suppress it.

Testing Your Settings

After configuring delay and frequency:
  1. Open a private or incognito browser window to simulate a fresh visitor session
  2. Visit your Shopify store and navigate to the page where the popup is configured
  3. Wait the number of seconds you set as the delay and confirm the popup appears
  4. Dismiss the popup, then revisit the same page in the same incognito window and confirm it does not reappear if frequency is set to Never
