Setting Up Multi-Language Text

If your Shopify store serves customers in more than one language — or if your primary market uses a language other than English — you can configure all Quizify quiz interface labels and button text in your preferred language. Quizify includes a language selector that auto-populates all label fields for the most widely used world languages, so you do not need to translate each field manually.

How Language Settings Work in Quizify

Quizify's language settings let you replace all system-generated text labels with your own translations. This covers labels across six categories:

  • Quiz page — Navigation buttons, progress text, answer selection info

  • Thank you page — Text shown on the post-quiz thank you screen

  • User Form — Form field placeholders and submit button label

  • Product result page — Load More, Add to Cart, View Product, result heading

  • Result widget — Widget-specific text labels

  • Customer email template — Text used in customer-facing emails

These are all the pieces of text that Quizify generates — as distinct from the question and answer text you write yourself.

Where to Find the Language Settings

Language settings are available in two places, depending on your plan:

Per-quiz language settings (Pro plan and above):

  1. Open the Quizify editor for a quiz

  2. Go to the Language tab

  3. Select a category to edit labels for that section

Global language settings (all plans):

  1. Open Quizify from your Shopify admin

  2. Go to SettingsLanguage

  3. Edit labels that apply globally across all quizzes

On Free and Starter plans, only global language settings are available. Pro plan users can configure language settings per quiz. Per-quiz settings override global settings for that specific quiz.

Using the Language Selector

Quizify provides a selection of top world languages you can apply with one click. When you select a language, all label fields across every category are automatically updated to that language's default values — no manual translation needed.

To use the language selector:

  1. Open the Language settings (per-quiz or global)

  2. Find the Language selector at the top of the settings panel

  3. Choose your language from the list

  4. All label fields update automatically to the selected language's defaults

  5. Review and adjust any individual labels if needed

  6. Save your settings

This is the fastest way to set up a non-English quiz interface.

Translating Labels Manually

If your preferred language is not in Quizify's built-in list, or if you want to customise the wording beyond the defaults, you can edit each label field directly:

  1. Open the Language settings and select a category

  2. For each label field, clear the current text and enter your translation

  3. Work through all six categories to ensure the full quiz interface is translated

  4. Save when complete

Missing a field means that label will still appear in the original language.

Does It Apply Per Quiz or Globally?

Language settings work at two levels:

  • Global (all plans) — Settings in SettingsLanguage apply to all quizzes that do not have per-quiz language settings configured

  • Per quiz (Pro plan and above) — Settings in the quiz's Language tab apply only to that quiz and override the global settings

If you have two quizzes — one for English speakers and one for French speakers — configure the language settings independently on each quiz (Pro plan required for per-quiz control).

Best Practices for Multilingual Shopify Stores

If your Shopify store uses a translation app (such as Langify, Weglot, or Shopify's built-in translations), note that those apps may not automatically translate the Quizify quiz interface. Quizify's language settings are independent.

Recommendations:

  • Use the language selector first — Select the target language to auto-populate all fields, then review and adjust any labels that need refinement

  • One quiz per language — Create separate quizzes for each language and configure the language settings independently on each

  • Test thoroughly — Preview each language version of the quiz to confirm all labels, buttons, and validation messages appear in the correct language

Note: Question and Answer Text Must Be Translated Manually

The language settings panel only covers system-generated labels and buttons. Your actual question text, answer option text, descriptions, and result page content must be translated manually in the question editor. Go to each question and answer in the quiz and update the text directly.
