# Build from Scratch
> A step-by-step walkthrough of creating a new quiz in Quizify manually — naming it, adding questions, configuring recommendations, and publishing.
Building a quiz from scratch gives you full control over every question, answer, and recommendation your shoppers experience. This guide walks you through each step — from naming your quiz to publishing it on your store.
## Start a New Quiz
1. From the Quizify dashboard, click **Create Quiz**.
2. Select **From Scratch** as your starting method.
3. Enter a name for your quiz in the **Quiz Name** field. This name is internal — shoppers won't see it.
4. Click **Create Quiz** to go directly into the quiz editor.
Choose a descriptive name that reflects the quiz's purpose, such as "Skincare Routine Finder" or "Coffee Subscription Match." This makes it easier to manage multiple quizzes later.
## Add Questions and Answer Options
1. In the quiz builder, click **Add Question** to create your first question.
2. Enter your question text in the **Question** field.
3. Click **Add Answer** to create an answer option. Enter the answer text.
4. Repeat step 3 until all answer options for this question are added.
5. Click **Add Question** again to add subsequent questions and repeat the process.
Keep questions focused on one topic at a time. Clear, specific questions lead to more accurate product recommendations.
## Choose a Recommendation Type
After naming your quiz, and adding questions and answers, Quizify prompts you to select a recommendation type. This setting controls how the quiz matches shoppers to products at the end.
Select the recommendation type that fits your store's logic, then click **Next**.
The recommendation type affects how results are calculated and which products are suggested. For a full explanation of each option, see the Recommendations documentation.
## Save and Preview the Quiz
1. Click **Save** at any point to preserve your progress. Quizify saves your quiz as a draft automatically, but saving manually ensures your latest changes are captured.
2. To review the shopper experience before publishing, click **Preview**. The preview opens your quiz in a new window exactly as shoppers will see it.
3. Test your answers and confirm that the flow and results appear as expected.
4. Return to the quiz builder to make any adjustments, then save again.
## Publish the Quiz
1. Once you are satisfied with the quiz, click **Publish**.
2. Quizify lets you publish your quiz on website in many different ways.
3. Choose embed or popup option and follow the steps to publish your quiz.
